Pre Spawn:
During this period bass are trying to eat as much as they can to give them energy during the long spawn period. They search for all kinds of prey such as crayfish, bluegill, to even small minnows. So once they start the pre spawn start throwing everything in your tackle box, and land that lunker you have been waiting for!
The Spawn Period
During this time bass will not be as aggressive and will only eat what is around or in their bed. Locate these beds and throw jigs, crayfish, flukes, trick worms, and anything else that represents live bait. Make sure to bump the jig or soft plastic off their head to aggravate them and get them to strike out of anger. The spawn can be a great time to land lunker largemouth. But getting these females and males to bite can take a lot of work!! So be patient and don't give up in the first 20 min!
Post Spawn
Just like the pre spawn, bass will have a big hunger after being on their beds. Start throwing lip-less crank-baits and swimbaits. (and other soft plastics too) And you will be catching more largemouth or smallmouth bass!!
